My fishing trips have taken me on the wildest adventures of my life. I have survived storms, endured mosquito clouds, and negotiated hazardous terrain that would repel any sane backpacker, all for the dream of finding that perfect secret fishing hole. Fishing is a hobby that brings me both peace and adventure.
I have never caught a fish that I would call a trophy, but my fishing resume displays more fish species and more techniques than most fishermen I know. I am drawn to the sport by Nature’s staggering diversity of creatures, each with its own particular beauty and unique mystery. I will fish for anything that swims and will take an artificial lure, from crappie to yellowtail, and try using any gear that is effective, from a #22 dry fly to a magnum Rapala. I try to constantly renew my enthusiasm by trying new techniques, and make every fishing outing a new adventure.
I currently live in San Diego and spend most of my fishing hours in salt water fishing from my wood kayak. I try to bring a fishing rod with me wherever I go, and the links below detail some of my fishing experience close to home and far away.
